Green Bean Casserole

Now I love beans. And green things are healthy right? So green beans must be sent by God. Or grown. In all seriousness, green beans are delicious and green bean casserole is even better. However, it’s normally made with heavy cream and other high caloric stuff. Ain’t nobody got calories fo dat. So I came up with a low cal alternative. Ok so maybe it’s less of a casserole and more of a cheesy bake. But hey, taste is what matters right. And looks.


Oh man, look at that burnt cheese. I’m so in love right now. That doesn’t make me shallow does it?

Ingredients:

  • 13 oz green beans
  • 40 grams onion
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tsp Olive oil
  • 2 oz mozzarella (I use trader joes lite)

Recipe:

So first toss your green beans with your olive oil. Bake at 400 for 20 min. Heat a pan on medium heat and dry fry your onions till browning. Add flour and mix, then add almond milk and mix. Cook until the almond milk is thickened. Toss with your green beans and add to a casserole dish. Top with mozzarella and broil till browned.


Wow. Cheesy, greeny, beany goodness. As a guy I have no shame in admitting that this is beautiful. So beautiful.
