Halloumi cheese. That simple sentence makes my mouth water. Well technically it’s not a sentence but ya know, I English well enough. Anyways, if you haven’t heard of Halloumi, it is a Greek cheese that has a high melting point, allowing you to grill it like meat. Basically, it can survive more torture. Now as I mentioned above, Halloumi is Greek. However, I decided to grill a slab up and place it on a Mexican salad. Why? Because one day, aliens will invade earth and think that Greece is part of Mexico and the food will combine. Who’ll be laughing then, huh?
Yea it looks good. Just ignore the weird flavor combo. In all honesty, the fatty cheese really worked with the spiced salad. But that’s my opinion and on the internet opinions are shot down. Like birds. And I don’t wanna be a bird.
- 1/2 cup corn
- 1/4 cup black beans
- 100 grams zucchini
- 1/2 tsp olive oil
- 3 oz Halloumi cheese
To make the salad, heat your oil in a pan. Throw your zucchini, corn, and black beans in and cook covered until zucchini is tender. After this, add in your cumin, paprika, and salt and mix it in. Turn off the heat. To cook the Halloumi, heat your non-stick pan on medium low. Sear your Halloumi on each side for 1-2 min or until golden brown. Serve on top of the salad.
