How to Make a Low Calorie Delicious Cheese Sauce

So cheese sauces are great. I use them all the time for cheesy bakes, for making veggies more palatable (curse you bell peppers), and just to eat with a spoon. However, these sauces normally require metric tons of butter and flour and guys, that is not necessary. You really only need a few ingredients and this cheese sauce tastes like heaven. Just don’t eat the whole thing while leaning over the pan ok?

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp flour (I use white whole wheat but white or even whole wheat works)
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (could substitute for regular but….. calories)
  • 2 oz of any cheese you want (I normally do 1 oz lite mozzarella and 1 oz the cheese I want it flavored as because the lite mozzarella is super low cal and bulks it up. Thank you Trader Joes, thank you!)

Recipe:

Throw your flour in a nonstick pan and start hearing it on medium. When it’s heated, pour in your almond milk and mix, then let thicken stirring every once in a while. When it’s thickened, turn off the heat and throw in your cheese and mix till melted.

It’s that easy guys, it’s that easy. Enjoy!

230 calories and 15 grams of protein for the whole thing.

Makes about 3/4 cup.
